College Majors?

Post by CassieXO »

I was just wondering what you guys majored in for college, what you are planning on majoring in, or if you went/ are going to college.
I've been having a tough time deciding and was just curious!

I've been thinking about advertising, public relations, or english.

I'm on Faculty of Language and Literature in my college (especially English literature). I'm quite major in literature analysis, art, and history.

Hmm... it depends on what the best skill you have. If you are very good in convincing people, communications, and have good self confidence, maybe you can consider yourself to study more about advertising and public relations. But when you are very good in literature, linguistics, and communication, you may take English as your first choice. Anyway, it's just my opinion. It's you who know the best for yourself. Don't be in hurry. Ask more wise adult people to help you. I was just like you before I entered my college. :D

I was thinking about take general classes freshman year and then taking some random classes in all the different things that I like. Then deciding which I liked best and continuing in that field. The problem is, is that I like SO many different things.
Thanks for your thoughts!

CassieXO,
I would recommend just sticking to gen. ed classes for your first year. That way, you will get a taste of diff classes and it may help you pin down an area of study you want to pursue. If you do this, you don't even need to choose a major right away. Either way, have fun and enjoy every second of college because it flies by!
BTW, I'm finishing up my undergrad as a Liberal Studies major/Art minor ... so I had the chance to study quite a few diff. areas!

I'm a Writing, Literature & Publishing major at Emerson College in Boston.

its the only school i found with a program in writing that also dealt with publishing and prepared for careers as authors, editors and publishers.

Mine is boring.

Human services with a focus in victim survivor services. I am finishing this May and I wish I had done either library science or a nursing degree.

I took all of my Gen ed's at a community college first. Much cheaper and I had fun. Plus I changed my major about 4 times during that time so its a good thing I played around for awhile then went on to my four year school. I am 26 and I don't think I am ever going to know what I want to be when I grow up! :)

Urg, England is so boring, straight up English Literature here. Just that, and as much of it as you can cram into the eight week terms (and oh, do they cram...). Though being an older university mine probably is a more traditional course than most.

I never went to college and I probably never will. If I was to go to college, I would study philosophy. But it would not make much sense to do that because philosophy is not much of a career field. I would just be studying it out of interest, which I can do without going to college.

Anyway, good luck everyone with your studies and your career goals.

Well, I joined the military so I wasn't planning on doing the whole college thing, but with two very small children and not wanting to be away from them and my husband still being in the military....

I took up an interest in Business Management, found it to be rather boring, but only have 7 classes left. I will be continuing on to get a Master's in cybercrime and foresnic accounting.

I know sounds boring (well the accounting part at least), but I enjoy it and it will get me on step closer to my FBI career path.
