The Quote Game

Hello to everybody out there. I thought I would try a game that really interests me, and hopefully might interest some of you out there. Its called the Quote game. I will start it off by posting a quote. The next person posts who made the quote and posts another quote etc, etc etc. It is a great way of finding out new quotes and who made them. Hopefully it is fun. I know I am really bad at quotes and who made them.
Ok, my quote is
IF WE DON'T END WAR - WAR WILL END US
Now it is up to you guys.

Nice thread, Gannon - H. G. Wells said: "If we don't end war, war will end us."
And who said this quote:
"We make up horrors to help us cope with the real ones"
<the clock is ticking.....>

Nice one Maud, I bet SKM would have known that one. I believe that is a quote by Stephen King.
How about
COWARDS DIE MANY TIMES BEFORE THEIR ACTUAL DEATHS

Trust you, Gannon - It's William Shakespeare from Act 2, Scene II of Julius Caesar. It is part of Caesar's speech where he says "Cowards die many times before their deaths..."
And now another one:
"A good newspaper, I suppose, is a nation talking to itself"
<the clock is still ticking.....>

Ha ha Maud, I could not resist throwing in a Caesar quote. Most of the quotes I know are Roman or Greek ones. As I said I am not too good at quotes. I am having a hard time with your quote. I am trying to find out whose it is without cheating and looking it up on the net. I will find it.

Hey, Gannon, "he who hesitates is lost" <chuckle, chuckle>

ha ha I tried to find it but had to resort to looking around on the net. It is the playright and once husband of Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller.
Here is a hard one.
THE FOX KNOWS MANY TRICKS THE HEDGEHOG ONE GOOD ONE
Try that one.

I know it's a Greek but I can't remember which one
but it reminded me of this one ... could be an adaptation of your one
'The mouse dreams dreams that would terrify the cat'

You are right Fran, it is a quote by a Greek poet.
Pretty sure there is no connection with your quote, but a nice try.
Here is a clue, his name starts with an A.

That
is a nice quote, although I have heard it paraphrased more eloquently:
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only one.
(And Maud is correct: it is William Shakespeare.)

Try that one.

"The fox knows many things; the hedgehog one great thing."
-- Archilochus
Here is one:
"A mind all logic is like a knife that is all blade; it cuts the hand that wields it."

A HOME WITHOUT BOOKS IS A BODY WITHOUT SOUL

That without a doubt was good old Sir Winston Churchill. I do believe he also said 'When you're going through Hell ... keep going'. I like that one.
Now try this one
'Those who can make you believe absurdities can also make you commit atrocities'
