So here I am in the holiday spirit and I decide to watch the classic Miracle on 34th street. Most people are familiar with this movie it's about Santa Working in a department store as a Christmas Santa. The movie was filmed in 1947 an obvious different time and here's why.

In the opening 15 minutes of the movie we are introduced to a woman who is head of organizing the Macy's day parade, yay for the strong leading woman. After the parade is over the woman arrives at home and inquires to her maid where her daughter is. The maid then replies that she's with the man in the front apartment, a stranger. The woman goes to collect her daughter and they have a conversation where the man says how he's very fond of the daughter and she can come over any time. Haha It's just all so creepy. If this was filmed today the mother would have ran to the apartment to make sure her daughters virtue was intact the chastise the man for luring the little girl in to his apartment.

I just found it both creepy and funny how much times have changed.

The movie was based on a book which was probably just as creepy. There was a 1994 movie remake so it would be interesting to compare the 'stranger danger' theme. These days educators teach students to be aware of pedophilic behaviour patterns so the girl would have run a mile. Maybe boost your holiday spirit with brandy egg nog instead!

A lot of those old movies were like that. An older guy liking a young girl (or boy) but back then you didnt think of things like that. I saw an old war movie a while back, cant remember the name of it , it had Randolph Scott in it is all I can remember. It had homosexual overtones, about the older seasoned soldiers with the young inexperienced replacements. Times have sure changed.
