Hey! Everyone on these forums love to read books, but books are made from trees. So, my school has a great idea{I think it's their idea, they might have gotten it from someone else} Book Swap! Someone leaves one or more books at a table, you bring some old books, then if you like the other person's book you leave one of your books on the table and keep the one you want! Isn't that great!?

They did that at the retirement center where my mother lived. But they did it with everything, not only books. Clothes, blankets, small appliances just about everything.

They do this at my local Starbucks. There's a basket full of books and you're free to take one or leave one as you please, or just have a quick read while you're having your coffee.

The downside to e-Readers is how to dispose of them - at least paper can be recycled.

There was a women's resource center I knew of. They had a big front porch in a small town. By word of mouth people were welcome to donate or take what they wished...clothes, books, electronics, furniture...Quite a few folks furnished whole apartments from this wonderful place. Then people began to eff it up, rummaging through stuff and leaving a mess...the neighbors complained and it was shut down. Too bad though, lovely idea though-donate some, take some, all free.
