Would you consider this an error?

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Hi there so I just got told this counted as 2 errors on my current reiview:

Due to the fact the Puppeteer can not directly involve himself with their world, he finds and coaxes a traumatized man named Wayne Terry to be his assassin.

They said that the above should have been corrected as such:

* Due to the fact [that] the Puppeteer can not directly involve himself with[in] their world, he finds and coaxes a traumatized man named Wayne Terry to be his assassin.

When I put in MY original sentence into a Grammer check it came out completely fine. So I dont understand how these were counted as errors. I think it was just a preference deal, am I wrong? I honestly think if it's a preference deal then it should not be counted as wrong.
