Re: Why do editors make so many mistakes?
When I see this in a book, I just put it down as an error in my list of errors on the PRQShirley Ann Riddern Labzentis wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 20:43 Who has come across a book where the typesetting is way off, and if so, did you mention it? I have read a lot of books where all of a sudden the sentences are double spaced. Then after a couple of pages, it goes back to single space. Also the paragraphs are not specified. Some are indented, some start with a double space and some continue right after the previous sentence. I always mentioned this in my reviews and took off a point in the rating. Well, the last editor giged me for it and took off some points saying that it is not the authors fault and I should not have taken points off the rating of the book. No one has ever mentioned this before. Now I am reading another book with the same problem, but I don't know if I should ignore it or mention it.

Yes, I encountered this issue a few times, particularly with EPUB books. It is most likely a formatting problem. I noted the errors as uncounted and mentioned that it is unclear whether they are actual mistakes or related to formatting.Shirley Ann Riddern Labzentis wrote: ↑04 Jun 2024, 20:43 Who has come across a book where the typesetting is way off, and if so, did you mention it? When I first started, I was very confused. Yes, as you said, it would be great if there were more consistency. Anyway, as you keep reading the books and writing your reviews, you will get better and better, for sure. All the best, Erin!Erin Suttle wrote: ↑10 Jun 2024, 07:39 I agree with you all. This system is extremely frustrating to learn. What works with one editor is wrong with another. This makes it seemingly impossible to learn how to get higher ratings. I do wish there was more continuity between all of the reviewers. I'm still new though, hopefully, with time I can at least get to an acceptable level.

As a geologist and christian, I also particularly enjoy books on science and faith.

Reviews can be sent back to be corrected? How do they let you know you need to do corrections? Do they revise your score after the corrections are done?Claudia Angelucci wrote: ↑01 Sep 2024, 12:32 Yes, I don't understand why they sent it back for a missing comma—a very minor mistake. It should have just been published.

Sorry, I just reread your original post. I now realize that you were asking how long it takes an editor to score a review. The link I posted is about how long it takes reviewers to write their reviews.Diana Lowery wrote: ↑30 Oct 2024, 10:45Adrian,Adrian Bouknight wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 17:09 I'm curious, for those that have done editorial reviews, on average, how long does it take you to do one? @Drue Tibbits, yes, you get the opportunity to change your review. It will appear in your Update tab if you can make corrections. And yes, the score is revised after the correction. You can check the status of your review in your History tab. Hope this helps!Drue Tibbits wrote: ↑31 Oct 2024, 22:05Reviews can be sent back to be corrected?
