The comma guide goes into detail and I think it will help all of us.

A clause is a sentence that doesn't need extra words. In your example it has 2 clauses.Sou Hi wrote: ↑17 Aug 2020, 04:03 Do you think this sentence needs a comma? An editor marked it down as below. They did not explain the reason, so I'm unsure why. According to what Scott wrote, 'with only a few grammar errors' is not a complete clause, so I wonder why a comma should be added.
It's because the book is nice and professionally edited with only a few grammar errors.
-> P. 6: It's because the book is nice and professionally edited[,] with only a few grammar errors.
And for this sentence, I used a comma to connect two clauses, using 'since' as 'because', but the editor also marked it down.
And it looks like even the invincible Riva warriors will flee in fear, since they have to face a stronger opponent.
->P. 4: And it looks like even the invincible Riva warriors will flee in fear[,] since they have to face a stronger opponent.
It looks like invincible Riva warriors will flee in fear.
They have to face a stronger opponent.

They really aren't new grammar rules. There are differences between British and American English. This is one of them.Katie Canedy wrote: ↑25 Jan 2021, 15:26 Thank you for this! I hadn't heard of the Oxford comma. Like a few users that have replied on this forum, I was also taught that using a comma in a series of three or more was the only correct way. I guess I have more studying to do for the new grammar rules!
