White or white

I read an article that states that describing a person as white that White should be capitalized. In the book I am reading it also has White capitalized. Is that correct or would it still be white?

In the past, initial caps were used to describe people's skin color, but this is changing to not being initial capped.
Are you asking about whether it should be counted as an error in terms of reviewing the book? If so, I would probably only count it as an error if it is done inconsistently throughout the book because it may be a matter of the author's preference.
