I also take into consideration the frequency of profanity. If every other sentence in the book has profanity in it, I would consider that excessive profanity even if the words used, individually, might be borderlinee. If someone just winces slightly when they read a borderline word, if the book is saturated with them they will surely have a permanent twitch after reading it.
My greatest accomplishment is that I raised two daughters that love to read.

Non-Borderline: f*ck, sh*t, cunt, etc.
Borderline: damn, pussy, Jesus, etc
Anything that you known you’ll get a snark reaction for by an older semi-conservative person is non-borderline.
Anything that you might just-just get away with from that same person, only getting minor attention but not having animated reaction, would suffice as borderline.
This said, I apple it to context too (hence the example of the semi-conservative person helps).

I initially had problems with this but then someone told me that whatever I cannot say before a child qualifies as "non-borderline" profanity.Tonze wrote: ↑10 Sep 2020, 11:23 I have sometimes an issue for differentiating profanity, minor profanity, borderline or non borderline words.

I think I will say anything that goes over the profanity line is non-borderline and anything that is on the line, meaning anything that is not strongly profane but has a hint of profanity is bordeline.
Someone please tell me if I am right.

the second one as borderline depending on how it is used...
Else it would be only a derogatory word but not profanity.
This is my personal opinion. I will watch this space for inputs.
Thanks for your question... will help new reviewers like me too.
