Incorrect Article Usage Grammar Error

I have a question on one of the grammar errors in my first review. Here’s the comment from the editor:

Additionally, the main characters (Uri and Lara) got very few scenes due to the large number of other characters, so I did not feel invested in them or their story. --> incorrect article usage

I’m pretty sure that an incorrect article usage would be misusing the/a/an (based on my memory and a quick google search). I’ve reread the sentence several times, but I don’t see an issues. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help!

Based on what you have said and the research that I conducted about article usage, I cannot think of how incorrect article usage applies here.

There is one problem that I see with this sentence though. The last part of your sentence, "so I did not feel invested in them or their story", could have applied to the main characters (Uri and Lara) or the other characters. I can see where some confusion may arise, as readers do not know which characters you are referring to. This is the only thing that I can think of.
