Correct use of the verb 'to don'
Once the item of clothing is already on (i.e. being worn), I would say He was clothed in silk.
I have recently been marked down in a review for saying that the following is an error... He was donned in silk. I suggested it would be correct to say He was clothed in silk.

You cannot use what other reviewers say in a forum to determine that. In requesting a recheck, you need to submit information from a reliable website showing that you are correct. If the editor denies the recheck, you can request an admin recheck. What you CANNOT do is complain about the editor here, right @@gali ?
