Grammar Help Needed!

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Grammar Help Needed!

Post by PeterRabitt20 »

Hi,

I hope everyone is doing okay!

I have grammar confusion that I need some help with. I usually put a comma before "which", except when I use it in this form "in which".

-- The word choices are positive traits, which inspire imagination.
-- ...a wheelchair, which I thought is important...
-- The part in which the princess fell asleep.

Are there situations when a comma is incorrect before "which"?

Thanks

The following article is a good source of information about when to use/not use a comma before "which." I like this source because it provides several examples of the word in sentences.

If "which" can be replaced with "that", a comma is unnecessary.
Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
