Nature vs. nature

Can "nature" in the form of our global environment or as a force ever begin with an uppercase "n"? The book I reviewed used nature with an uppercase n all throughout as a name or a title or as something almost conscious.

It seems that the author is personifying nature, so the capitalization is fine.
