Biblical or biblical?

Post by Anamika Satheesh »

Is the word "biblical" supposed to be capitalised when referring to the Bible? A lot of devout Christian writings do capitalise, but according to some writing guides, it should be in lowercase. The Chicago Manual of Writing Styles uses lowercase, but said that it can be capitalised if done in a consistent manner. Some dictionaries still do to adhere to the proper adjective guideline: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proper_adjective

Some forums state that while it is more accurate to capitalise, it is not necessary anymore since it has become common to write it in lowercase. However, there doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule that it should be in lowercase, so would it be wrong to capitalise?
