Typos and errors

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Typos and errors

Post by Claudia Angelucci »

I'm a bit confused about how to report typos and errors. The guidelines state, "When you provide your notes on typos/errors, you should quote the full sentence containing the alleged error, along with the page or location number."
However, I had an editor who scored my review saying that I also need to provide the correct sentence. Can someone clarify if this is necessary? Thank you for your help!

Can someone help me with this please? Here's the comment I got today: "When pointing out typos, please quote the full sentence with the error and then describe the typo." Could you please give an example of how to do this? Thank you.

This is the way I have been doing it for almost a year now, and no one has corrected me.

Correction: The car goes too fast.

I hope that this helps.

Thank you very much, Shirley.
Okay, I understand now. I didn't know we had to correct the mistake. That should be the editor's job, not the reviewer's. However, I'll do it like that from now on. Thanks again.
