Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Is this an error?

Post by Alissa Nesson »

Hey all, just wondering if someone can help me. This sentence seems wrong, like it should say “a mustache” and not just “mustache”. If the author is trying to say the hair and the mustache were both curly and gray, I still think this would be incorrect. Thoughts?

He was very tall with gray, curly hair and mustache

I wouldn't blame the author for an error because it is okay either way. It sounds better to say "a mustache," but "mustache" is also correct.
