Confusion between "it' s and its"

Its means something belongs to it like a dog is running along its tail. And it's simply means it is.

True. The first one relates to possession of something or a belonging . The other one is just it is. I think as time goes by we are becoming fond of short cuts and getting things done too quickly ,to such a point that we lose the meaning of almost everything. What do they call us again ..."microwave genaration" because everything is done in a minute with us.
