UK and US english - which is correct?

Hello,
Is there a guideline that says the review only needs to be in english (US)? Any words used in english (UK) would be considered incorrect?
I assume reviewers being from all over would have the flexibility in terms of spellings used in different countries.
Would it not be ok for me to use “counselling” instead of “counseling” and instead have points deducted for it?
There are so many different words like colour-color, finalise-finalize, with spelling differences subject to UK and US english. Would they all be judged as incorrect?
