Oxford commas

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Oxford commas

Are a lack of Oxford commas, the last comma before and in a list type situation, reasons for reviews to marked as having spelling or grammar errors?

No. Oxford commas are usually not counted in the error list. We have some new editors, so some of them are not familiar with the guidelines yet. You can ask for a recheck.

The guidelines say that Oxford commas are not required, and whether or not you use them is a personal choice. I have been marked down by editors for not using Oxford commas so many times that now I use them to avoid this.
