Ooh! that made me laugh. At any rate, maybe the author can consider it. It would be a way to clarify without actually changing the title.

(I bet your suggestions aren't that heinous!)

For all I know, most readers may very well be drawn to the book by the juicy title. It's short and easy to remember.

Yeah. You know, I've never even put much thought into titles before. But I was thinking about if it were a real-life crime book, it might be called something like, The Wicked Wives: The Wives Who Murdered Their Husbands in [timeframe] [location]. Problem is, it's a fictional account, so that might not work so much.

Another thing is that he could put a blurb on the front cover: A Fictional Recreation of the [what's the word for murdering your husband] of [location] in [timeframe]. That would just make it more clear what kind of book it is. I have no issue with the title The Wicked Wives. I love it!

Actually, I tabbed over to page one of this review, and there is no cover. We may be chatting over nothing! Oh, OK. I went to Amazon. It says, A Novel Based on a True Story.

Well, there we go. Problem solved!

I like the title Iniquitous Spouses: Mariticide in Post Jazz-Age America and Subsequent Legal Procedure and Precedents until the Kennedy Administration, Volume I.

THAT would sell a lot of books.

With a title like that, I would imagine the author could take early retirement.

Usually I don't like murder mysteries, but this one sounds really good! Thanks for the review! Also, I agree about the name of the book; when I saw the title, I was expecting it to be about witches or supernatural beings.

Well, much of the story is not too much of a mystery since the reader already is told what really happened. It's the D.A., with the help of the police, who investigates and puts all the pieces together.

This seems like a fantastic read. I love crime stories. Really nice review!

The story is fascinating. Considering the true story took place in the late 1930's, it was astounding how these wives were so slutty. I always pictured women of that era as meek, little housewives who just wanted to keep a clean house and cook the perfect dinner. :)

You know, that's all I've ever wanted to do--keep a clean house and cook the perfect dinner. Are any men out there intrigued? I'm serving meat loaf tomorrow! :chores-laundry: :chores-mop: :chores-vacuum:

Those cleaning icons are hilarious. I'm not sure what the third cleaner is doing....it looks like a person laying down on the floor while vacuuming?!
