Fascinating review! It’s intriguing how Pelagatti blends historical facts with fiction to craft such a compelling narrative around the Philadelphia housewives. Your insights, especially on the character development and the vivid depiction of the 1930s setting, offer a deeper appreciation for the novel. I share your sentiment about the title possibly limiting its audience reach. This review certainly highlights the book’s strength in storytelling and character complexity.

This historical fiction book sounds very interesting with wives murdering their husband for insurance money. Though the cast is numerous, their personalities and wants are all different. I look forward to reading it. Thank you for your review!

What a great review of the true-crime story in "The Wicked Wives" by Gus Pelagatti! How did one tailor convince so many neighborhood women to murder their husbands? How did he make these women start affairs with him and a few even actually fall in love with him? How did all this go on for years? I have to say it is all in the book and the reviewer states that this book is a page turner! What more could you ask for?

Mere looking at the title of book, I know this is going to be an interesting bock to read. Also, one thing I've noticed over the years is that its easier to destroy men who join forces in a fight than to story women. I'm really curious to know what happened in the end!

The Wicked Wives is a historical fiction novel by Gus Pelagatti, set in the late 1930s Philadelphia. The story revolves around a group of housewives who conspire with a local tailor, Giorgio DiSipio, to murder their husbands for insurance money. The author, a trial attorney, discovers a link between the cases and the murders. Each woman's backstory is detailed, with specific problems and relationships. The book features a large cast of characters, including Boris Feldman, aka the Rabbi, who is entertaining during interrogations and courtroom scenes. The Philadelphia setting is filled with dirty politics, bribery, and prejudice against Jews, blacks, and Italians. The story moves at a rapid pace, with a shocking twist at the end. The author could have used a different title, but the book is an excellent read that should appeal to both men and women. It deserves a 4 out of 4 star rating.

I'm always watching programs like True Crime Stories and Snapped, so this book is up my alley. The fact that this was going on during the 1930s is what was shocking to me. I cannot wait to get my hands on this novel. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.
