We buy the books or borrow them from the library as you should do if you want to participate.

I think the idea is to choose any book that you would like to read, and that is relevant to the Holloween season. It's kind of a free-for-all. :D

I am going to start a book that someone compiled on researching real ghost encounters. I don't recall the title at the moment but it looks really good!

A suggestion, if you're still looking for a book. I was good friends with David Pitkin who wrote a number of books ghost hunting in our area of northern NY. Whether you believe or not, he was a great storyteller.

I just read a mystery/murder thriller.. I'm guessing that can fall into this topic, right? The Wrong Girl, seriously one of the best books I have ever read! I would strongly recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery!

I will post a recap list at the end of October of all books discussed. Basically, it's a general heading that loosely, or tightly if you prefer, fits the charsteristics mentioned in the definition I povided in another post. (those are the types of thing we'll be discussing). Also, please do borrow from the library or purchase titles if you don't already have a copy. :)

Are his books readily available? I love watching shows like Ghost Hunters and am pretty into the paranormal stuff, so I would love to check out his work! I am very excited for this discussion forum this month because I love horror/supernatural movies, shows, etc. My reading in this area has been limited though, so I am excited to get some ideas from this forum!

I'm reading a few of the goosebumps with my kids this month. Along with the classic Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Personally I like Stephen Kings short story The Mist or Needful Things.

I read The Glister by John Burnside for a book club a year ago. Everyone hated the book except me and nobody wanted to discuss it. I was disappointed. I recommend it, if anyone is up for it.

One of my favorite horror books would have to be by Stephen King "It". It's by far the creepiest book I've read since getting my first series by him entitled The Dark Tower series. I enjoyed watching the movie as well and i think they did a good job sticking to the story.

This...is a fantastic reason to finish Dracula by Bram Stoker. I was supposed to finish reading it for my Vampire Studies course for a film class but yeah, when forced to read I rarely do it. Thank you kio!

Would like the Shining too. As good as the movie is, I still would imagine the novel to be a real psychological effort.
