I actually have most of the books of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, but never got arounf to reading them. I was so excited when they finally got translated here, and I went and bunch-bought them. But when I browsed the first volume at random, the parts of the translation I layed my eyes upon... were not good. Not good at all. Maybe the rest of the book is not so poorly translated, and I just need to brace myself and read it. I am pretty sure I would like the story itself.

But oh dear. so many good ideas for October. I think in the beginning of the month I will just put all the titles in a jar and pick one at random.

Recently I read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow for the first time. I loved that it provided a mysterious ending where it's left up to the reader to decide what actually happened. It's not "scary" in my opinion, but it is definitely a Halloween classic.

Wow, I never realized how many options there were for this genre. I guess it makes sense that there would be, I was just never really interested. But I'm definitely reading "The Last Stonestepper" @Escapeartist did a wonderful job with his review of this book that I can't help but try it out!

Question though: should we try to finish the book we choose by the beginning of October or can it be by the middle/end of October?

I would probably chose a Stephen King book or one similar, although I spend the majority of my evening reading children's books and have a list of Halloween one's prepared for October.

Great question, hsimone! I think early October would be good, like the first week or so. Then there'll be plenty of time for discussion! I know I'm going to try to read something "easy" since I have focus issues. I'm leaning toward Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn. I'll probably start it in early October and have it read within a week, I'd imagine.

I'm psyched for you to read the book I read, because I'd love to hear your thoughts about it! We may have to start a spoiler thread so we can discuss the ending and stuff. :-)

Whoops. That read ambiguously. I mean, The Last Stonestepper! :-)

I'd say early to mid-October, so you can get the most out of the discussion, but it's up to you.

This sounds like a really great idea! Supernatural and horror aren't generally my type of book. However, Shrouded Realities fits this genre and I believe the author is writing more, perhaps I will check out his latest installments and read one of those. Or i could always go with an Agatha Christie, her novels always make me look behind my back while I'm reading!

I know! I'm excited too! I love reading books and being able to discuss it with someone. I feel like it's a lot more fun that way :)

Thank you all for your opinions about when to finish the October book. I think Ill aim for mid-October with the hopes of finishing the book up more towards the beginning of the month. Can't wait!!
