This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.
I have taught poetry for 6 years to middle schoolers and I am always infusing music into the unit. The students love analyzing the lyrics for poetic devices. I've used Taylor Swift's "Back to December" and Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You". They break down each lyric and are shocked at how they have rhyme schemes like most poems, symbolism, and many more. I have them watch the videos and they even pointed out how everyone is wearing black in Puff Daddy's to show mourning and the mention of cold, snow and white to show acting cold led to the break up on Taylor's. Poetry and music should be combined in all aspects!!
I think that's great. I wish I had a teacher who taught like this, utilizing things that kids are actually interested in. Keep doing what you're doing!

According to me, it is fundamental to find a link between things like these. I appreciate the people who find this link and keep it, trying to show their discovery to other sensible people like them. So I agree with Allesha in saying that: Keep on and let's continue in doing this in your life.
I definitely agree that music can be poetry very often, and I think you involving it in your poetry lessons is great. I think it's something that would definitely help the students stay interested in the lessons.
