Need Starter Poetry, Any Suggestions?

Post by theatrics »

I really would like to start reading poetry, but I don't know where to start. I've tried out a bit of Robert Frost, but honestly, it became dull rapidly. I know the more I read it the more I will like it, so I'm willing to keep trying. Anyone suggestions of where to start? Keep in mind that the reading level should be low, as I am new at reading in poetry style.

Try Langston Hughes and Pablo Neruda. They're a couple of my faves and I'm sure you wouldn't find them boring! :D

Maybe there is a good book with a collection of poetry from different authors that would be good for someone newer to reading poetry. Maybe it would help if the book also contained commentary on the poems. I do not know of any like that off the top of my head. If I think of anything, I'll post about it here.
