Is poetry better with or without background music?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I think it would depend. A clever use of music could well work. I prefer just the poem with no music.

Poetry is already lyrical, musical. It is better without music. I think that adding music to the verses only distracts from the original.

I agree a 100% with Andr70 when he said that the poetry is better without background music because the strength of poetry is in human voice. In poetry you want to listen to every single word and the way people are saying, and even if you're just reading it there's a LOT underneath the words that you can miss.

I think that ut is better without the music. The words have a way of speaking to the soul. I love it.

"Poetry, a lone verse's grace, or entwined with melodies, both hold a special place. Each note, a companion to the words, enhances the lyrical world that's heard."

It depends on whether the music matches. If it is chosen well, it tends to help.

I think it gives poetry a rhythm. It enhances the speaker's voice and people's feelings who are listening to it. It is always a cherry on the top according to me.
