If I were a flower
I guess I’d be something
with thorns,
perhaps not at all something you’d want
to hold close to your heart

and yet?

There just may be someone out there
bold and brave enough
to hold this thorn and know
they will not suffer a fatal attraction;
though there could be a few injuries
along the way
to that crystal holding vase.
