I usually don’t listen to anything when I read books unless there are distractions around. I live alone so a lot of the time it’s nice and quiet in my house. Though if the book has been made into a movie, sometimes I will listen to the album or the score while I read.

Does anyone else like to read while listening to Tangerine Dream? They’re a German all synth prog-rock band from the 70’s. They were Salvador Dali’s house band for awhile. Really beautiful, calm, and instrumental. I find vocals pull my attention from my book too much,

I always prefer songs that resonate with the mood of the book I pick up. It's weird but I always tend to attach the melody of a tune to that of the thrill of reading so I have designated songs for every book that I have ever read.

Sometimes I like the silence when I'm reading or writing but sometimes I need just a little noise. I usually like to listen to music I don't know that well so I don't get distracted. It's nice to have something that blends in with the background and isn't too upbeat or catchy.

People who read are hiders. They hide who they are. People who hide don't always like who they are.

The only time I'll listen to music is when other background sounds are too distracting. I like video game soundtracks or instrumentals. Specifically, I love this track called The Far Road by...Nick Ellis, I think?

Some people may not be able to concentrate or think about the book they are reading while listening to music. And in my opinion I think the reason that could make you unfocused is because the music has words. Based off this I recommend listen to classical music Such as Beethoven, Mozart etc.

I enjoy reading in a siren, calm and quiet environment for an exclusive type of concentration, but I prefer listening to genres like RnB, jazz or country along side reading.
