I do, however, listen to the same genre (sometimes the same group/singer) for weeks at a go. And it seems to depend on the weather...somehow Spring is zydeco time.

To me someone with way narrow interests is a rather boring person. If someone says they only read romance novels or only listen to classical music...well PARdon me...that's a narrow minded person in some sad way. I'll pull into a bookstore and browse topics all over the map. The same thing with music. Yeah as you age you tend to go back to music from your teens...but as much as I love The Band and Deep Purple, my kid can play Tupac and I enjoy it, my hubby can play George Jones and it's timeless, I love Rhianna and Pink and listen to classical with my Dad, well-rounded is a good thing

I don't personally believe you can say you love music and not love something about more than one kind. I like to listen to TONS of different melodies and songs to find one I like. There are hip hop songs, rock songs, country songs, classical instrumentals old and new, operas, Broadway musicals, pop songs, soft rock songs, classical crossover songs, New Age songs, and traditional songs that I can listen to any day. When I say I love music, I mean what I say, though I can't really wrap my mind around most of the rap and jazz genres... just not for me, I guess... I can't understand how we went from judging great song by the breath power it requires to deeming vocal pieces that are moaned all the way through or not sung at all as sick stuff or good listening... Again... just not for me... I like Maria... Callas, that is! :D

I remember knowing someone (I'm not mentioning any names) who only enjoyed classical, and they said, "It was the only music anyone should listen to, and all else was rubbish." The person was a very young lad, and made no room for even the music he was raised on, 80's and country, but he soon realized he was being silly. It depends on the persons preference, and if they think rap is the only music, so be it. That is their opinion and they are completely and freely entitled to have it. :)
