Suzy:

Ha ha! I didn't say there were no exceptions! "Hallelujah" is one of my favorite songs. There are several versions of it that give me chills... The good kind. :D No, there are many simply beautiful and even elegant songs and pieces that I love. I've been listening to the soundtrack to "The Pirates of the Caribbean" and some complete opera recordings of Anna Netrebko. These prompted my last post. :D Do you have a top ten list of favorite songs ever?

For me some songs just have the right feel. One of those is Ted Weems 1933 Heartaches. Ever since the first time I heard it when I was a teenager it always turned me on. Ive heard the same song by other artists, but they are kind of blah. Another is Mexicali Rose by Gene Autry and I Want You I need You by Elvis. They hit a certain chord and just feel right.

Definitely the lyrics usually interest me the most, but I get really captivated by the beats too.

And I also love a lot of instrumental music, of many many sorts, for the different interpretations that they can prompt.
