I find it hard to listen to music with lyrics while I write or read. If it's ambient noise or instrumental music though, it helps me concentrate a lot better. It's also very relaxing to me! :)

According to my opinion music helps to write. Because this thing happened with me Before 3 years back. When I was in 2nd yr. Engineering My Sir told me when you are solving Mathematical problem, please put a Head Phone to your ear and start solving problems. When I tried that method Seriously, I was very interested in solving problems and from that day onward when I am doing my home task simply I put my headphone in my ear at low volume and starts my home task where we show the interest to do home task very easily.

It's a bad idea to write while you are listening music. The words of the songs will distract you, so if you like to listen music while you write I recommend something without lyrics. Sibelius is a good option

Music doesn't necessarily help me write, but I do tend to have it playing the background while doing that or reading. Almost anything instrumental, though I lean towards classical piano and my all time favorite go to is Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker CD with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Yes!!! I need sound when I write and it's usually music over tv as tv is too distracting. Lately I've found that I write school papers best with alternative rock and creative writing with whatever music I want to listen to at the time.

Oh yes, depending on what Iam writing though. For poetic moments I love deep soulful music and if I am really in the zone with a serious article I prefer to have rock blaring. When it comes to short stories I like to listen to songs that portray scenes that I write about :D

It does help me write, it can be quite inspirational and lyrics can help the images flow which can turn into your own story!

Depends on my mood. Sometimes it inspires, but other times it annoys and distracts.

Not having any music in the day in general is usually a negative thing for me.

I love to listen to music as I write. It helps me alot, Whether it helps with the mood, scene, or even the time and place I use it. Even when I'm not writing I use it to help me read, that is why i go through so many books a week.
