As for me, I listen to alot of japanese band/artist such as Arashi, Yui, One Ok Rock, Sakurako Ohara, and the list goes on. There also a japanese movie about music which is a must watch, it's Kanojo wa uso wo aishisugiteru also known as The liar and his lover. The song in this film are great and fun to listen. Other emotional movie about music that i enjoy is taiyou no uta, in english it is called Song to the Sun, and the main character is Yui(in the list above,) her song are great.

I miss when visual kei was big, anyone else? I was way into groups in that genre and the bands that were a part of it back as a teenager.

Most of the Japanese music I listen to these days is older stuff; I haven't really kept up with anything modern from over there. BUCK-TICK, Luna Sea, X Japan, hide, some older Dir en Grey (pre 2009), L`arc~en~ciel, HYDE, Plastic Tree, MERRY, OreSkaBand, nujabes, Utada Hikaru, kagrra, ... okay I didn't realize how long my list would be. But yeah, I recently got heavily back into listening to some of these so I've been enjoying the blast from the past.

Well... I'm absolutely IN LOVE with Taichi Mukai ever since I heard his song on Run with the Wind anime. I'm only exposed to JPop artists because of anime and JDrama so excuse the references (and if you're into anime too, you can probably guess from where I've heard them). Other band/artists I like: Luck Life, TK, asphyxia, Radwimps, Bump of Chicken.

Special mention is the work of Yoko Kanno and Seatbelts for the soundtrack of Cowboy Bebop.

Animenz! He's not a typical artist but he covers anime songs on piano. He's had piano concerts around Japan and can't wait for the opportunity to be able to listen to him.

There were two female singers who sang songs for the anime Nana. They were awesome.

Those songs Broken Rose, Kuroi Namida and A Little Pain are top class. A must to listen.
