What's your favourite poetry book?

Post by aymanbinmoshi »

My favorite poetry book is 'Bidrohy' which means the rebel- by the famous Indian poet Kaji Najrul Islam. It's a Bengali poetry book. A book where he has rebelled against all tyranny and strain. Which one is your favorite poetry book.

My old copy from school days of 'The Waste Land' by T S Eliot

Hafiz - The Gift. This is what they should be teaching kids in schools alongside Shakespeare

I am not particularly a poetry fan, but one book that I did end up enjoying was Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, Edward Gorey (Illustrator)

Hi.. guy's
I choose a dramatic poem: King Lear, by Shakespeare, or someone who called himself "Shakespeare". It's simply, and impossibly complicatedly, beautiful, clever, and heart-breaking beyond any other poem, for me.

If you're looking for Meaning over Form, you can't go wrong with Rumi, Coleman Barks' translation or anyone else's. He lived over 700 years ago, but he explains modern life as well as any of our contempories. I feel like everything's somewhere in Rumi if you can only find it, as it is with Shakespeare.

Robert Frost is one of my favorite poets, along with Edgar Allan Poe; any one of their books is a thumbs up in mine.

I think Shakespeare is still the best poet, as well as playwright. I am fond of reading his sonnets.
