I enjoyed it very much Carla. Its construction was a bit reminiscent of e.e.cummings' poems. The imagery, style and dialect were spot-on and the theme of "home", though presented very matter-of-factly served to evoke those warm and fuzzy feelings we all share when recalling our early years with family. VERY WELL DONE !!!!!!

Thanks guy!

Was thinking of you last night. Have you read Hanff's Letter from New York? I just finished it. Am starting Q's Legacy tonight. If you haven't read the former it is wonderful!

I have not read Letters from New York though I very much would like to. I think you will really enjoy Q's Legacy if you liked The Duchess Of Bloomsburry Street because it picks up where Duchess left off. There are many funny as well as poignant moments in Q's Legacy. Let me know what you think of it after you finish.

Sorry I have been somewhat incommunicado lately. I've been in the hospital, but all is well now and I am looking forward to sinking my teeth into a few new books.

Have a great weekend !!!

Thanks so much Fran. I'm doing much better now. I was unable to do any reading throughout the whole ordeal. People offered to bring books to the hospital but I was in no condition to read anything - lotsa pain ect

Missed you guys. After I got home I'd stop in here from time to time but couldn't stay long enough to post before the bed would call me back. I'm almost 100% now and going back to work Monday. I'd get paid if I chose to take off more time but curiously I find myself looking forward to getting back to the old grind ... maybe because the NEW grind was 10 times worse. *LOL*

I'll be back when I've read something ... I feel like such a slacker even appearing here without anything to contribute.

See you'uns (as Carla might say) later.

On your recommendation I have looked for AND FOUND Letter From New York. It is in transit from one of my local library branches to the library I normally use and I should have it soon as there are no "holds" on it.

I will check back after I've read it but I'm sure I will enjoy it. Thanks for mentioning it and prompting me to find it.

Did you enjoy reading Q's Legacy ??

Oh yes...and Hanff's writings are a bit like Hansel and Gretel as she leaves a trail of "breadcrumbs" throughout suggesting other TBR books!!

Let me know how you lke it :)
