Has anyone read Tupac's poetry book called The Rose That Grew From Concrete?

I own it and love it. He was a very complex individual, and very smart.

Here's a few of the poems from the book:
Tupac wrote:The Rose That Grew From Concrete by Tupac

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.

A young heart with an old soul by Tupac
How can there be peace?
How can I be in the depths of solitude
When there are two inside of me?
This duo in me causes the perfect opportunity
To learn and live twice as fast
As those who accept simplicity...

In the event of my Demise by Tupac

In the event of my Demise
when my heart can beat no more
I Hope I Die For A Principle
or A Belief that I had Lived 4
I will die Before My Time
Because I feel the shadow's Depth
so much I wanted 2 accomplish
before I reached my Death
I have come 2 grips with the possibility
and wiped the last tear from My eyes
I Loved All who were Positive
In the event of my Demise

I Cry by Tupac

Sometimes when I'm alone
I Cry,
Cause I am on my own.
The tears I cry are bitter and warm.
They flow with life but take no form
I Cry because my heart is torn.
I find it difficult to carry on.
If I had an ear to confide in,
I would cry among my treasured friend,
but who do you know that stops that long,
to help another carry on.
The world moves fast and it would rather pass by.
Then to stop and see what makes one cry,
so painful and sad.
And sometimes...
I Cry
and no one cares about why.
What do you think?

I really respect Tupacs work. I've read the book Tupac: Resurrection which is sortof an autobiography with some of his writings mixed it. It has alot of pictures but if you want to learn more about him i suggest reading it.

By the way The Rose That Grew Through Concrete is one of my favorites by him. He's really good at putting the struggle he's felt into words.

I absolutely love his poetry book. "In the Event of my Demise" is my favorite...

Tupac was such an amazing human being. I wish that he was still with us. He was talented in so many aspects of life.

i have read Tupac's poetry.

and i have heard about the rose that grew.

i swear I have a memory from elementary school of reading a story with that title. i can't find info on it anywhere. all i get is the tupac stuff.

i remember a picture of a little girl with pigtails on the left side with a sidewalk or road to the right

is this picture in the tupac book? if so i might be making up this memory. but if not there is totally a short story with this idea in it. i think that's why he said, "have you heard about"

I surprisingly enjoyed reading poetry of Tupac Shakur. His words flowed like a gentle river, yet strong enough to leave me desiring to continue reading. His writings has most notably put my thoughts of Tupac in a more positive light.

I own that book and love it. I am a huge fan of Tupac, but the book showed me a soft side of him that does not transpire from his music. I also love that the book features the original poems in his own handwriting.

The Rose that Grew from the Concrete is one of the most wonderful things I have ever read, I am not just saying that because I enjoy Tupac's work, the imagery of something growing into something beautiful despite its environment is just a really wonderful concept.
