A guy like me

A guy like me
Likes to sleep late
Listen to rain drops on my window sill
I like blueberry waffles

And miss days of childhood
Miss my first red sox game
Wish my dad didn’t work so hard
The best of where I am is because who I am

I like the company of a dog
And miss my guinea pig hemi
I like to sing and dreams of being a rockstar
Wish to make a girl melt when she looks at me

My favorite superhero is wolverine
And I love the game of football
Wish I could bring tears of joy to everyone I meet
Don’t like anyone to be sad

I like to laugh
And wish chris Farley was still alive
Love Christmas and Halloween
Eggnog and Pumpkin muffins

Even when I lost hope
Time to time I return to what I’ve been supposed to be
IN my heart I dream
In joy I believe

I don’t much about physics
Don’t know much about chemistry
But love to read and learn
As the years fade

I realize what I truly want
Has been here all along
I hold close
Memories of childhood

I like your poem Carter. I see beyond the words to the feelings behind them and they are profoundly beautiful.

Many thanks for sharing !

nice poem carter.you bring some sort of my childhood memories back to me.do you ever notice that when the moment we face them we don’t know the value of them.we just take it.but after some years we are willing to have that moment again.live your life in each and every moment.that’s the idea i got from your poem.

I really enjoyed reading your poem. I never read a childhood poem like this before so I was very impressed. Thanks for posting. :)
