What song lyrics speak out to you? Describing either your mood, character or phase in your life. e.g. a break up song could be a phase in your life.

Cool! I have never heard that song.
I would have to say Bitter Sweet Symphony By The Verve is a good life song. It sums up life.

It kinda appears a depressing song. But it's a good tune :)

One song I really liked that depicts a stage in my life that sometimes I wish to forget but never regret having seen is the one by Lucy Schwartz and Aqualung entitled "Cold." It's one of a melancholic, even bitter kind of grace. Fantastic. Another one I love is "Vissi d'Arte" from the opera, "Tosca." I think we all feel like the fierce diva of that famous name at different times in our lives. I like Enya's song, "Only If," too. It's very uplifting, perfect for someone who needs to know that life isn't all about giving in to the day, but setting it to your own kind of music. I'm also crazy about the incredible role of the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's most famous work. I can definitely feel many of his words and his amazing song.
Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things that escape those who only dream at night.

Requiem on Water is one that captures the appropriate mood for a good story sometimes for me. It gets to the heart of some of my characters, too. There are, of course, many other songs, like Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away," which has been quite an inspiration of late...

Billy Holidays 'Good Morning Heartache' relates to the feeling of grief. After recently losing a loved one this song related to my feeling of waking up each day and remembering that person is no longer with me.
The song talks of struggle and finally acceptance.

I wanted to offer an explanation of "The Weight" for those not familiar with The Band. One of the best interpretations I've seen of it besides the original was when Mavis Staples, Brittany Howard, Mumford and Sons with Elton John did a tribute to Levon Helm on last years Grammys.

Basically it's a story of trying to be all righteous and good and what an impossible feat it really is. Each of the characters in the song could represent the interesting souls we've all met along the way. Just a beautiful song that pretty much sums up a life well lived.
