Who would you write a poem, a song or a lyric for?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I mostly write poems and short lyrics for my friends and family. I also often write for myself. When you feel lost and isolated, it's always good to have a little conversation with yourself, and poetry and song can be the way to deeply connect with your heart.

I always love to create piecess before my creativity and writing skills. Often time I would always pick a random subject and feel everything about it. The most themes I have written, I think, is about love.

I would write a piece for my Grandpa. Perhaps a theme about gratification or love. He has been there since then. I couldn't ask for more than anything. I’m happy to be with him, and I’ll never be tired of writing pieces for him.

Me and my life. Maybe my younger self or my older self. I find it hard to write about other people but I have A LOT of things to say about myself.

I would only ever write a poem for a spouse, or in my case, an ex spouse. Mostly because I tend to only express sadder and more complicated emotions through poetry and my love for the other things isn’t usually as complicated!

I would write a poem with my bf. Honestly, I had been busy writing pieces to him a while ago, and I’m happy he appreciates it. I’m lucky to have him.

I would write a piece to my mom this time. Ever since, we haven’t have that much bond and I think by writing her a poem, she would most likely appreciate it.
