If anyone here is a writer, does music inspire your work?

Post by lyndsie_anna »

I'm just curious. I'm an artist and I work in a lot of mediums, including creative writing. Music influences pretty much everything I do, but for some reason it's never directly influenced my short stories. I don't know if it's just that music is more abstract than prose, it's just never happened with me. Anyone have any thoughts?

I do write, but on other websites. Music is a huge inspiration for what I write or how I write it.

Generally speaking, no. I have written a poem about an oboe piece, but I only recall that I did write it, nothing about it, so how inspiring could the music have been?

Music influences a lot of what I write. When I'm listening, many images pop into my head that turn into stories and poems later. I can never listen to music while writing, though... I need silence to concentrate... Music is a very major part of my world in every other way...
