What's On Your Playlist?

For us old farts, play lists and MP3 players and IPods are truly amazing! I remember having a Walkman as a teen, it played cassettes and munched them after several uses. Then there was the player for CD's, if you breathed the wrong way it skipped.
Now we have these little gizmos that seemingly suck music out of the computer, and the capacity...I don't think I know 2000 songs or whatever these things are capable of. Then the fun part, composing a bunch of tunes to get ya going. I'm going to be listen specifically when exercising so I picked energizing...
Baby I Need Your Lovin-The Four Tops
Lady Love and Althea-Robin Trower
Hit the Road Jack-Ray Charles
Stray Cat Strut-The Stray Cats
Gimme Shelter, Tumbling Dice, Happy-The Rolling Stones
Jump, Jive and Wail-Brian Setzer
Birdland-Weather Report
Leavin' Texas, Sea Cruise, One Too Many Mornings-Jerry Jeff Walker
Miss Jackson-OutKast
Thrift Shop, Same Love-Macklemore
Breezin-George Benson
You Know You Want Me-Pitbull
Dancing in the Moonlight-Top Loader

and there's still room for a zillion more, what songs inspire you to bust a move???

There was a time when I used to listen to prearranged playlist. Now in the age of the 'cloud' I use pandora and their radio stations. Depending on how I'm feeling or what type of genre I'm either listening to or writing to I go from Thievery Corporation, St. Germain to Daft Punk and Black Sheep radio.

Funny, they played "Stairway to Heaven" as we were leaving a party last week. All us geezers were practically floating down the steps to it...one of those tunes that's timeless...kind of what "Bye Bye Bye" does to a later generation, not in the same league of course

For exercising/motivation I just stick with the songs I like the most to begin with...they may not match the 'pace' of everyone's workout (or even my own sometimes) but enjoying them is the key thing for me.

"Headstrong" - Earshot
"Re-education" - Rise Against
"Best of You" - Foo Fighters
"From Yesterday" - 30 Seconds to Mars
"By the Way" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
"Motorcycle Drive By" - Third Eye Blind
"End of Me" - Apocalyptica ft. Gavin Rossdale
"Maybe" - Sick Puppies
"Over and Under" - Egypt Central
"The Noose" - A Perfect Circle
"You're Gonna Go Far Kid" - Offspring
"Another Way to Die" - Disturbed
"Sorrow" - Bad Religion
"Voodoo" - Godsmack
"Fine Again" - Seether

To name a few ;), in no particular order.

I have almost four thousand classical and opera selections and some Loreena McKennit, Nickel Creek, Bobby Vee, Enya, Laura Brannigan, and Celine Dion on my iPod. Oh, there's also the two disc soundtrack of the movie,The Phantom of the Opera, the soundtrack of August Rush, a compilation of pieces from the Legend of Zelda games for symphony and chorus, the Alice in Wonderland soundtrack, and the complete music of Anne Hathaway's and Hugh Jackman's Les Miserables. I... really like music... :D

I was born in the nineties, so I remember having to fight with CD players (I always won one way or the other... he, he) and I remember hiss. Now I don't have to worry about any of that. It's WONDERFUL!

Oh, that's Danny Elfman's Alice in Wonderland... just so we're clear on that. :D I think the boldness and eccentricity of his style are attributes of a unique musical brilliance. He's one of the great film composers.
