I totally fail to understand why some people don't like music or poetry, what are some of the reasons? Is there someone that relates to this?

It's easier to find people who do not like poetry than those who do not like songs. It maybe that poetry need a high level of understanding and being keen to understand the lyrics but some people may simply love songs because of the beats.

I will tell you from my perspective. Some people think as has been painted immemoriably, that songs are for those who are very secular. Poetry is for the modern, learnt, and classic society.

My grandfather did not like music because he could never hear it even while it was turned up. As for poems I know some was because they had to read those old poems where you can barely understand them.

Here is what I think are the reasons for hating music and poems:
Music, it's like chalk on a blackboard making a shrilling noise. Music to one is noise to another. The lyrics don't make sense to them.
Poems are hard to understand and appear aimless.

There are number of reasons why some people hate music but the most common is religious influence.
In Ideal Islamic norms,music is forbidden,though some muslims still fail to abide by this law.

I haven't met someone who hates songs, maybe a certain genre, and that is because they don't relate with that genre of music. As for poems, I think one needs to have that artistic ear to understand the message of the poem, otherwise u will end up not liking the poem all together.

Well most people hate poetry because sometimes you don't get the message being portrayed in them and that is a challenge since you can't love anything you can't understand. Songs on the other hand depends on the genres. You can love one genre and hate another so that depends on the taste of someone.

i am a big fan of folk songs and psycological poetries as they are part of our life in a poetic way to represeted us.

I guess they just don’t understand it or don’t try to understand it and therefore, they can’t relate to it. But that’s just my opinion…

They might not be into the genre or the art.

Different background, upbringing or environment. They might hate a certain genre or topic but one thing for certain: Every human being in this world has their type of music and poetry.

I can understand hating a poem or poetry but I have never come across anyone hating music. They are not avid listeners but they do like some songs.

I love several genre of music. However, I do not think much of some genre. I don't know why some people might not like some songs, but as for me, I do not like some genre of music because it sounds like noise tome.
