Songwriters???

Post by deepinsunshine »

Does anyone have an interest in songwriting?

I have quite a few songs that I've written myself. I also play the guitar and attempt the piano every once in a while. Music is a passion of mine as well as books and art.

I just recently wrote a song called " Bowl of Peaches". It's a political song. Just a warning...it may offend those with exceedingly high patriotism.

Just another walk out on the moon
no one even has to leave the room
it's all just a damn conspiracy
the proofs right there in the delivery

Just another reason to be scared
the whole world's up in flames and we're right there
standing match in hand and foot in mouth
but don't you worry, we'll blame someone else

We're just another peach inside the bowl
who bullies the orange and ignores the apple
steping on the others to gain control
we call ourselves the victims but we're the assholes

Just another peach inside the bowl
everybody hates us an we know
ignorant and stupid as can be
that's what I call
"the home of the brave and the land of the free"

This is my pledge of alligence
to the countries in need of assistance
I won't leave this stage until it's clear
that the only place to fear is right here

I repeat some of the stanzas in varies orders.

Music and Poetry is an album by jazz bassist Charles Mingus. In spite of the title, the album does not contain any poetry. Scenes in the City", however, includes narration performed by Melvin Stewart and written by actor Lonnie Elders with assistance from Langston Hughes.

That song doesn't look like patriotic one.
But it would be nice football hymn as well and you can be sure that any football team will take it. 8)

I wrote a song with a friend of mine about 30 years ago. Ive got it written down somewhere, If I can find it Ill put it on here. I dont even remember how it goes anymore. It was a goofy thing, the title was I Hope Youre Living up High on the Hog Just Like the Pig You Turned Out to Be.

Kudos!! I'd like to hear the tune, too.
I'm surrounded by musicians/songwriters. Just helped write a "Baby, I Love You"-type song...from Phil Spector's perspective. It's not as bad as it sounds....well....yeah, it probably is.
How perfectly goddamned delightful it all is, to be sure.

@ Tralala, I found the pig song. Its kind of stupid, but heres part of it.

Im just sitting here scratching my head
Wondering whats happened to you
Wild wild liveing and big fancy cars
Thats all that interested you.
I soon found out thats what you wanted most
Now that youre gone ill be free
I hope youre living up high on the hog
Just like the pig you turned out to be.

We were so happy dear when we first met
Then one day things started to change
All of a sudden you got an itch
Just like a dog thats come down with the mange.
You ran up charge accounts all over town
I didnt know where it would end
Then one day I realized this just wouldnt work
So now I dont give a damn if you just drop dead.

Now that youre gone dear I deserve a rest
cause darlin, you really shafted me
I hope youre living up high on the hog
Just like the pig you turned out to be.

Theres a couple more verses but these were the best of the worst. Its good for a laugh.

Thanks, Ill get hold of her. Maybe we will have a hit. lol Ive written some others, but they were more for my own entertainment and a professional songwriter probably wouldnt think they were very good.
