Literature that is thought provoking

There are many pieces of literature that gets you thinking about...well, about life. One piece in particular is the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley. This is purely a work of art. "I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul." What beautiful writing! What are some quotes, books, poems, etc. that made you think about life?
