What are characteristics for a song to be your favorite?

Post by Aelihe »

What are things that make a song your favorite? Like maybe it's the lyrics, or maybe the beat, or maybe even the music video. For me it's definitely the lyrics, that's what pulls me in. But if a song has a catchy tune I don't mind either. :D

For me, I love pop music. I just like how it's so upbeat and happy, perfect for the summer or all year long.

Since I was a band kid from when I was small, the music has to peak my interest first. I have to like the tune, the beat, and then it has to get stuck in my head. After that I google the lyrics and obsess over them for about a week, writing them anywhere and everywhere I can!

For me its like Louis Armstrong said, if it makes you tap your feet its good music.

Some songs just have the right feel, sometimes you cant explain it but you never get tired of listening to them. One of my favorites is Guitar Boogie by Arthur "Guitar" Smith. Ive heard it a million times over the last 50 years and never got tired of it. One of those that wants you to get up and dance even if you dont know how.

I like something with emotional intensity and a good BANG! here and there. :D

I'm a fan of many varieties of music, all depending on my mood.

If I'm in a PARTY mood it's nice to have songs I recognize and can sing along to. (mostly because I've been drinking) A good beat is needed. Something I can dance to. In this scenario, it's OK if it's top 20's popular music that I've heard a thousand times. Otherwise NO, no Top 20's. Not at all.

When I'm sad/depressed I love me a pretty voice (male or female). I love hearing men hit those high, emotional notes.

All in all,
something one can really relate to is always the person's favorite song.

Latest Review: "Paradigm Shift" by Bill Ellis

The lyrics are big for me to take something from good song to favorite song status in my heart. That's the main reason Alex Turner / Arctic Monkeys have completely won me over. But that Armstrong thing is right on too--if I can tap my feet or at least feel the groove, odds are I like it!

Also YES men hitting emotional high notes. Mmf. Perfection. Or just men hitting high notes in general...love good male singers.
