How do you discover new music?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

Largely I go through YouTube algorithm.
They suggest a song, if I like it I check the artist.

Usually I don't like the artists much beyond one okay song.
So from there, I look up the genre that they're in. I pull up a list of artists in that genre and skim through them to see if I like the genre.
Often I'll find music that way.

Usually from friends and if there's a new artist that is making waves, I check them out. You can also listen to the old classics like the Beatles and Spice Girls.

I use Pandora and YouTube to find new music. On YouTube there are channels that post new music though and lyric videos that go along with them. Sometimes I ask some friends but YouTube is a main one for sure. Channels like NewMelody or WaveMusic is what I listen to on YouTube. There a lot of talented musical artists on there.

I follow most of my favorite musicians on social media and therefore get alerts when they release new music.

I used to discover music by searching the lyrics whenever a really nice song would play in a series or movie, and then listen to the artist's catalogue and similar artists. But now I use streaming platforms and then listen to similar music and artists with a radio or go through their collaborations and old albums.
If I start a "radio" on Google play, I can listen to so many different artists and songs with a similar vibe or sound.

Autoplay on Youtube is a big help. Also soundtracks from movies help too.

I use YouTube suggestions and I look up a band on Wikipedia and see who their affiliated acts and influences are.

YouTube is a great place to discover new songs. I usually enter one song I already know then listen to the other suggestions YouTube gives that are often of a similar genre. I also look up playlists from TV shows that I could recall. :)

The 'Discover' feature on Spotify is great. As of late, this is where I have found all my new favourite bands and music artists.

Usually, the singers I follow are very active, so I don't really have to go actively searching for new music. But sometimes I will just search up a playlist on youtube of a certain genre I enjoy and just write down any songs I like. Not having premium on Spotify also helps lol :)

I use follow YouTube recommendations, but there is the site https://www.music-map.com/! You can just type in band names and find a whole web of new artists to check out. There's usually a huge web even for underground artists which I appreciate. I'm guessing the site probably uses data from music streaming sites to find related bands.

My sisters are the ones who have good music tastes! Whenever I find new music in their playlist, I simply ask them if I can add it to mine as well because I like it. When my friends post anything related to music that I like, I instantly search it to find the song.

I often listen to my favourite songs on YouTube and open an auto-playlist with them included. I often find gems from those mixes.

I mostly use YouTube and Deezer. I think it's a new app, but it has this function called Flow, which is essentially an infinite playlist that just adds songs you seem to like. You won't like all of them, but it definitely is a good way to discover music.
