I wrote this today! It's fiction, but it came to me, so I jotted it down. Let me know what you think!

To the one who never loved me
When I was a boy,
You said I wasn't good enough
And, when I was a baby,
You said I cried too much
And, when you died,
I said to myself
Damn
Now I can't show you who I really am
I use to dream you'd come back
But in time
That dream turned into a nightmare
When I think of it now
I shudder in fear at the thought
You might actually be there
And, with gratitude, I'm relieved that you're not

To the one I loved so much
You said I never loved you enough
The first time I caught you
You said it wouldn't happen again
Then it took a couple more times
Before you left me for them
When you left me,
You left me with your ghost
That's the thing about being alone
It's then that you're often most crowded by demons
I use to dream that you'd come back
And everything would be okay
But in time
That dream turned into a nightmare
When I think of it now
I shudder in fear at the thought
You might actually be there
And, with gratitude, I'm relieved that you're not

Wow! This poem hit me hard. It brought back flashbacks to my childhood. Reading this poem made me appreciate the power of letting go. Loved the poem.

I love the poem. Sometimes judgment from others can make us strong. But the truth is we are always good enough. Thanks for sharing your amazing poem, Scott!

This one is beautiful as it shows the mixture of longing and hatred. Longing to have the loved one near to us always despite of how they treat us and the hatred of not being seen. Also this piece shows that the memories bet it good or bad, sometimes turn into nightmares and never allow us to come out of it but in the end the art of letting go helps us to breath....
So, in short it is beautiful Scott 👍
