Music & Synesthesia

Post by Jaime Frampton »

Does anyone here experience music-related synesthesia?

I sometimes experience what I describe as a combination of chromesthesia and spatial-sequence synesthesia when listening to music. I see a projection of moving shapes, patterns, motifs. I also sometimes physically feel the "energy" of the music moving through my body. Recently, when crocheting complicated patterns repeatedly, I began to hear classical music while both crocheting and looking at the completed rows of stitches.

Anyone else? I love music, and obviously experience it in unusual ways, but I am not a musician. To me, music is sensuous and mysterious, but seems highly mathematical and difficult to understand.
