What Type of Music Do You Enjoy Listening to While Reading?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

I like listening to either post-rock music or some lo-fi background music while reading. Those kinds of music generally don't have lyrics (mostly instrumentals), and they really help in letting me focus on reading!

For me, i prefer no music at all. Music has the ability to set moods that are contrary to what the author intended at a specific time of the story.

I know most people can't listen to music with lyrics in the background, but I cannot not listen to music while reading. I think it might be the ADD in me, but I listen to music, any music with lyrics, and when I actually get into reading, it kind of just plays in the background. It doesn't bother me at all, kinda just helps me focus more without having to listen to silence.

I find it really hard to listen to music while reading, but if I'm going to listen to anything, it's usually something without lyrics like one of the concentration playlists on Spotify, classical or instrumental.

I really enjoyed reading the comments in this forum. I usually find it hard to concentrate on what I'm reading when I listen to music. I'll have to try out some of the songs that I've seen suggested on here. When I'm reading to study for classes, I highly recommend the soundtrack to the first season of the BBC TV show Sherlock.

When I read, I like to listen to some smooth Jazz. For me, it goes well with any type of reading.

I am forever jealous with people who can read while listening to music. My weak brain will never allow me to concentrate with noise in the background, whether or not it is a pleasant noise. Quite frustrating sometimes.

I dint mind music while I am reading, but it has to be in low volume and somber and calming or go with the theme of the book like pop or rock. It can be anything but in low sound. :techie-studyingbrown:
