What Type of Music Do You Enjoy Listening to While Reading?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

Maybe country music or gospel songs.
Something cool I'd say:wink2:

I often listen to a dreampop band called "Castlebeat" while reading and writing. Instrumental music helps a lot too.

I pick based on the book / work but I tend to go with music that doesn't have lyrics, so Jazz, classical, film scores, etc. :)

It really depends on the book's tone. If I'm on a serious scene, I would put some intense music. If it's on a talking scene, I put on chill pop music. Makes it feel more engaging for me.

I can do instrumentals sometimes but it's really hard to read with sound playing and I love music too much to not focus on it half the time.

I can't read if the music has lyrics in it. I do love instrumentals when I'm reading pretty much anything.

I really like to listen to movie or video game soundtracks when I read. It helps when they don't have words, and sometimes the calm or strong parts of the music line up with whats happening in the book.

I prefer silence, but can really drown out any sound if I’m super into the book! I like listening to my white noise machine sometimes while I read in my room at night which is nice

I have a playlist for when I’m reading. It’s mostly country songs and sad songs only because I’m happy when I listen to those kinds of songs for some reason. I will most likely listen to anything because I’m not picky about all kinds of music.

I can't concentrate if the music has lyrics, but I love to listen to instrumental music while I read! Definitely soundtracks are what I listen to mostly. Lately I've been going back to listening to the LOTR soundtrack when I read.

I enjoy and type of classical music playing softly in the background while I’m reading. Other than that, just silence.

I hate listening to music while reading or writing, I can't focus at all if there's even a bit of background noise. I can't do anything, and end up getting a headache. It's weird but I'm always in awe of people who can work with it 👌🏻

None. It is easier to focus without.
