Yes 100%! I have difficulty concentrating without music, especially when I'm sleepy. My subjects tend to be difficult too (I study engineering), and I find that music helps me enjoy the entire studying process more and that always helps me get through what I have to do.

While studying, I only listen to music in the brakes that I take to easy my mind.

I personally find music very distracting while studying. You could play music when doing some housework to pass the time more quickly but definitely not when studying. Classical, hip-hop, lofi, doesn't matter. All of them are distracting for me. I have seen so many 'one hour lofi music to help you study' in YouTube and those are great to listen to but not while studying, that's for sure. I prefer quiet when studying. And, when nobody is around. That way I am in full concentration.

It distracts me sometimes, it pulls me to the depths of my soul so before it gets me in there, i have to remind myself

Jazz music increases my study time all the time. I listen mostly to DJ mixes.

to study I prefer instrumental and slow music, very calm like Lo-fi and others that are similar.

I can deal with listening to music while reading but it's always to an extent. If I feel like I've stopped assimilating, I just stop the music and focus on reading. :techie-studyingbrown:

i listened to lofi music a few years ago while studying and it was okay, but then i made a playlist full of the songs i liked but in instrumental/piano version. they’re so relaxing and it’s fun to listen to your favourite songs in piano!
all’s fair in love and poetry

I have found that the best genres of music to listen to while studying, reading or writing include minimalist, classical, piano and low-fi music.

I enjoy listening to piano music while studying or other playlists within the "focus" or "study" categories on Spotify's genre/mood page. I find that I cannot focus well if I am listening to music with lyrics, but instrumental music can be nice as background noise.

On one hand, I get too into the music and cannot focus. On the other hand, if I work without music for too long my mind will start wandering and I'll lose all sense of time. I've found it helps to just put one song on repeat, so that it provides enough stimulation to keep you going while also eventually becoming background noise.
